Mea Bissett is an artist and educator working in drawing, painting, and textiles. She creates textural and geometric pieces that are colourful and densely layered. Bissett works with traditional surface treatments and craft techniques, drawing from vernacular craft and elementary principles of art education. She often incorporates interactive or educative elements, by staging community workshops or collaborating with artists and non-artists alike.

Mea was raised in Ontario, studied in Nova Scotia and France, and now lives and works in Montreal, Quebec.

Selina is an interdisciplinary artist whose work in textiles, drawing and performance emerges from themes of care, slowness, nostalgia, reciprocity and repair. Having now collaborated for over 10 years, bissett and latour have recently pivoted their practice towards participatory artworks, workshops, and public performances. Inviting participants of all ages and skill levels to contribute, their vision is to facilitate enjoyable educative interactions which encourage skill-sharing within craft traditions. Learning alongside knitting circles, weaving collectives, educators, and acquaintances, our artworks emphasize the importance of localized crafts and cultural traditions that focus on slowness, connectivity, sustainability, and creativity.
