Mending Matters, 2022
In collaboration with Selina Latour
In the practical sense, mending is the action of repairing (either by sewing, felting, patching or darning) a used item of clothing to prolong its life or restore it to a usable state. Mending can conceptually refer to making amends, or healing relationships that have undergone hardship. These mending workshops explored the themes of ‘care’, ‘sustainability’, ‘embodied learning’, and ‘collaboration’ through material engagement and conversation. Over the course of 12 weeks we staged workshops where participants could practice different mending techniques, such as weaving fibres, sewing patches, and repairing ceramics.
